Choosing the right mattress is essential for hotels, B&B’s and other hospitality establishments. Among travellers of all types, both business and leisure alike, the quality and design of the mattress is the second most important characteristic that they look for in a hotel room after hygiene. A good night’s sleep is detrimental to productivity and wellbeing, and therefore it’s so important to consider the following characteristics when purchasing beds and mattresses for your business.
1 : Hygiene;
Recent research has confirmed guests consider hygiene to be number 1 priority when staying in a hotel/hospitality establishment. The use of anti-microbial protection is vital for keeping hygienic freshness. Using good quality mattress protectors has also proven to increase mattress cleanliness, enabling the longer use of a mattress in your establishment.
2 : Bed size
Everyone knows, the bigger the bed the more luxurious the feel. Guests tend to feel more relaxed and comfortable in a larger bed, with the ability to really kick back and stretch out! First impressions last, and the size of a mattress is one of the first things a guest will notice when entering a room – make it a good first impression!
3 : Mattress Quality
Quality and your establishment are very closely linked. If mattresses quality does not meet a guests standard this can be detrimental to new and returning guests. It is therefore important to invest in good quality mattresses. The use of a top mattress especially in a luxury 4 or 5 star hotel is essential. This is not only because it delivers extra comfort and softness due to the memory foam used but it also contributes to an even weight distribution and extends the life of the mattress.
4 : Price
Good quality does not always mean most expensive. There are a number of well-priced mattresses that offer excellent quality in the market, and sometimes it just takes a little searching! You do not always have to go for the biggest names/brands to get the best product. In fact, sometimes it can be quite the opposite.
Don’t be afraid to request samples, ask to view a mattress, try before you buy if you aren’t too sure. A large sum of mattresses in a hospitality establishment is a big investment and so it’s important to get it right!
Also, it’s important to remember that different establishments have different requirements. A 5 star hotel may require a higher of mattress than a hostel, or 3 star hotel. It is therefore important to choose a mattress that is right for your business. This is why different types of mattresses exist after all!
5 : Warranty
It’s always good to purchase a product with the comfort blanket of a warranty guarantee. That way, if anything goes wrong or if there are any issues with the product, you are covered! Mattresses are no different. It’s important to ensure there is warranty with the mattresses you are purchasing. Different suppliers/brands will have their own warranty policies and so it’s also important to read the small print. The longer the warranty the better, and its often advised to avoid products with no warranty guarantee at all.
